Product Manager resume FAQ
What metrics should a product manager include on a resume?
Use the metrics your product was measured on: activation, retention, conversion, revenue, NPS or time saved for users. Pair each with your action and timeline, such as "redesigned onboarding, raising day-7 retention from 31% to 42% in one quarter." If numbers are confidential, use percentages or relative change instead of absolute values.
How do I move into product management from another role?
Highlight product work you already do: gathering requirements, prioritizing a backlog, running experiments or partnering with engineers. Engineers, designers, analysts and customer success managers all have relevant experience. Retitle bullets around problems solved for users, and mention any internal transfer, side project or certification such as a product management course.
Should a product manager resume be technical?
It should show enough technical fluency to work credibly with engineers: APIs, data, SQL or system trade-offs you handled. For technical or platform PM roles, go deeper. For consumer or growth roles, emphasize research, experimentation and business outcomes. Avoid listing programming languages you no longer use, and focus on decisions you made.
